WAKA FLAKAAAAAA

We got to Chicago a little earlier than expected for Pitchfork on Saturday, and our check in time at our hotel wasn’t until 3pm, so we did the only thing we could think of, ate and started drinking Jager bombs at 1:30 in the afternoon and just being rambunctious in the car (all while listening to Waka Flaka). So Jordan decides to go down to the hotel lobby and ask if there are any early check-ins, and while he’s there he stumbled upon Waka Flaka just chillin at the hotel bar at the W. He then sends me a picture, which I show to Warren, who says, “nahhhhh it’s just somebody who looks like him.” So for a good 20 minutes we continue taking shots and think nothing of it. Then Jordan comes back and explains it really is him. So we all make the journey down to the bar at our hotel and meet Flaka. HE WAS SO EFFING TALL. I told him I had just been taking Jager Bombs in the car to his music and he was all like, “freal? How many you take?”. Haha he was sooo nice and took pictures with all of us, and his security guards were tite.

I told him we were in town to see Odd Future and that they were huge fans of his and he just said he’d never even heard of em. WAKA TOO BIG FOR THAT SHIT.

Pitchfork Music Festival 2011

Pitchfork was amaaaaaazing. My favorite by far was Odd Future, which was one of the main reasons I wanted to go to Pitchfork in the first place. Got real sad when I realized Frank Ocean wasn’t performing with them, but still the best show by far. Also got to meet Syd at Beauty Bar, she was so cute and so nice. Not a very good picture of the stage during OF, but Warren and I decided to watch from the shade tree…it was blazing hot and I didn’t feel like dying in that mosh pit. It was so fun to watch the crowd go nuts, even if we weren’t in it. Others that were my favorites were Yuck, and How to Dress Well. HTDW sang a cover of R. Kelly’s I Wish, so of course I was in heaven. Baths were also really great and really fun. Sad I missed Toro y Moi :(
